4 must-dos when you move to a new home

Posted on November 3, 2016 in House Moving, Melbourne Removals, Moving Tips
When settling into a new home there's a few things you must do before relaxing.

Stepping through the front door of your new home is one of the most exciting sensations you can experience. But before you can walk, you have to move! Fortunately, the team at Professional Movers is on hand for efficient, affordable moving services right across Melbourne.

We don't just move your possessions though – we can help you prepare for the big day. Here are a few tips for dealing with the brand new property you're heading to.

Have a good look through your new place

Consumer Affairs Victoria recommends having a good look through your home before moving in if it's a rental. This will give you time to complete a condition report, which is an account of the state of repair that the property is in. You'll need this if you want to claim your bond back!

Having a look through your home will also help you to get a feel for the property planning your coming move in.

Plan where you want heavy items to go

On your first day at your new home the last thing you need is a back injury. So plan in your mind (or on paper) exactly where you want your large furniture to go, then get your professional removalists to pop it down in place.

If you hire right, your movers wont mind at all and it'll save you a lot of trouble.

Make sure your pets are safe

Before you put your feet up check the hot water system, gas and power are on.

When you arrive at a new home your pets may be a little skittish. They're in an unfamiliar environment so it's essential that you make this transition as stress-free as possible for them.

Ensure that outdoor areas are fenced off so that they can't escape, keep them well fed and watered and perhaps set their bed or cage up in a cosy corner.

If you're lucky they may sleep through all the commotion!

Check that you're connected

After a hard day of moving you might be exhausted and in need of a hot shower and some hard-earned relaxation time. Before you put your feet up check the hot water system, gas and power are on. It's so easy to forget to turn on the hot water and you'll regret it in the morning when your shower shoots out icicles.

If you're about to move and need a hand with the heavy stuff, give Professional Movers a call. We're experts at making your move as easy and stress-free as possible.
